You can see that all of the top facing panels that the clear coat is deteriorting, that shit will not polish, not even with wetsanding. Might as well wrap it all up and do it right.

Im about to go check it out, but I have painted 23 Mystic Cobras, including one that I owned. I have always used BASF Glasurit, because Im a pimp like that.

So does that particular paint or manufacturer make it a lot more expensive? Is the prep work more time consuming?

It used to be that only BASF line carried it, Glasurit & R&M. It was (is) expensive and you could only get it with a VIN and filling out a form from Ford. A BASF rep would come out to your shop and sell you exactly how much you needed and in the early days would take back the left over. They got more lax after a few years, but the only place to get it was from a paint store in Minn. Its been a few years since I bought from them, but from what I understand from Mark Preus you can get it from PPG at any local refinsh store.

And its kind of like a three stage system.

From what i was told. The car was stolen and the motor was blown. (I have a bent rod and piston that came with car) Then it sat at a mustang place since 2000 outside.
