It was my foot into the door into the world of broadcasting in a number 7 market (at that point in time anyway). No other DFW station would look at me being fresh out of college. I was in my early 20's, had a "Chief of Broadcast Ops" title, had my own department and could hire who I wanted to. Problem was with the budget they gave me people at Taco Bell made as much as the board ops I had.
It was only really bad around telethon time. It was like a four hour long, low budget used car TV ad. So many stories...

LOL... shady characters.. Check out Mike Murdock. While I worked there he was one of the big guns they'd bring on for the telethon. They would save him until the last few days when pledges would start to dwindle. He'd get viewers all emotional enough to where they'd get ridiculous pledges of those stating they are either expecting a huge settlement or inheritance and they are on fire to give it all to the station.
