Nope, I saw it. It's just funny that Randy *almost* slipped that punch. Almost, but not quite.

He almost slipped Liddel 2 and 3. I always thought both of those KO's were under questionable circumstances.

Tank Abbott in his prime would put all these pretty boy wwe rejects to sleep in under 30-seconds.

Quite simply, if you think that Big Nog isn't an impressive fighter, then your opinion means very little to me.

First off, the guy hadn't been finished in 45 fights, against a lot of strong opponents. You can now say what you want about all of those opponents, but ultimately, he's a tough son of a bitch. He's also one of 4 people to beat Barnett.

I guess ultimately, I need to know what your fighter barometer is, since apparently Fedor is only slightly above mediocre, Cro Cop in his prime wasn't that dangerous and the heavyweight division has been filled with 'cans' for years.
I am open minded to other ideas, but the arguments I am tossing out are just hard to look past ( 'staged' fights, inability to fight top opponents, fight record discrepancies ). I am only saying he gets WAY more hype than he deserves. I was also trying to back up my concepts with data and not just supposition based on a fighters tremendous won/loss record. I think Nogs record is just as bloated as Fedors when it comes to opponents but not as bad. He has a lot of professional wrestler and nameless fighter victory's under his belt as well.

Brock and Alistair are not my median of what a heavyweight should be, simply that they were the first to start to bring athleticism to the division versus being either a one dimensional brawler or a grappler.

And Brock did what Fedor couldn't, he took fights in the UFC including all the top fighters in the division.

A lot of fighters have several no names fighters in their records because only a very select few get into a top tier organization without any experience other than name recognition.

How do you know what Fedor could or couldn't do? It's all conjecture on your part. Styles is what makes fights, not names. All of them have things are good at and things they are bad at. It's who can capitalize on a given moment with the right technique.

I don't know if you have ever trained at all, but its an odd thing with combative sports. Some days you go in and no matter what you do, it's not working, nothing is clicking for you and getting dominated no matter how you approach your opponent. It's very fucking frustrating, no rhyme or reason to it. Then other days, it's like magic, you can't do anything wrong and you're catching everyone with almost everything you try. That's just combat for you. It's not a fixed thing, but alive ever moving and evolving thing on its own. Only people who train will ever really know what I am talking about and its something you need to experience for yourself to get it.

Not flaming you btw, just explaining.

My argument is that the era that was considered his prime was full of mismatches. Then again, Anderson has fucked up the entire middleweight division and the same could be said, but all his opponents were top tier until they fought him and have records of legitimacy. I consider Frank Mir a better heavyweight than Fedor just because of the constant level of top competition during his prime.

I listen to Dana Whites videos blogs, all his interviews, and read his twitter, as well I asked him some questions about it when he came here for Chael vs Stann. I just feel he gets WAY too much credit for his victories. The thing is outside of cro cop and nog, his victories are not that incredible.

While I have not felt this in my limited combat training, to me it is the same with all sports or competitiveness activity, not just combat sports. I did take 6 months of MT in Dallas before I left near valley ranch, I forget the name of the place. I never got the immune to fallacy disposition while there because all we did was drills and boxing exercises as it was a precursor.

I do those things as well, but I take what DW says with a grain of salt. He himself has very limited experience in combat and tends to let his battleship mouth override his rowboat ass. He's a damn good businessman, but you can't really completely go with what he says about fighters because he always has another agenda in his mind.

I can see why you would accept what DW says because you both have very similar approaches to it from a fan standpoint, rather than understanding a fighters perspective due to limited personal experience.

I am not sure how you're interpreting being a fan somehow makes a fighters record better. I can grasp that you're saying the fact he defeat all those people without a loss is impressive because fighters fight with injuries and sometimes have a shit camp or just feel defeated before they even fight, but to be considered the best of all time you have to win while defeating top level competition. I just think the title should be bestowed on someone worth it and not casually handed to a fighter that lost to 'top' level competition when he got in the ring with them, and ran from the bigger fights.

Anderson is the best of all time.

Anderson also took douchebaggery to a whole new level. Lesnar is when I started getting sick of MMA, Anderson killed it for me.

I try not to get into those things the greatest of all time stuff, because thats always subjective. I certainly wouldn't say Silva is either considering he constantly turns down fights. Reading DW's blogs, I'm sure you know how much Silva drives DW crazy because of his constant hesitation to take fights. He tries to pick and choose who he wants to fight, rather than taking the fights he is told to. He needs to quit stalling and move up divisions like he is needs to but he's too busy protecting his legacy. I think we have seen all that we will from Silva and expect him to retire soon rather than him moving up. As long as Sonnen has learned to posture up while in Silva's guard, I see no reason as to why Sonnen doesn't take his belt this time because Silva has no answer for Sonnen's aggressive, smothering style.
