I have seen people go off the end of the ramp trying to launch their boats but never anything like that

Yes. This is just like our lakehouse at Texhoma... We have a property on a hillside overlooking the boat ramp. Hours of entertainment listening and watching spouses yell at each other, forgotten drain plugs, launched boats without making sure the boat is fueled... I can't wait to get up there again this summer.

I hate launching boats on ramps much less on the beach. I put a friends boat in Grapevine back 4-5 years ago when Grapevine was over full. The boat ramp was completely underwater and by the time I got far enough in for the boat to float there was about 20ft of water between the front of my truck and dry ground. It was a little nerve racking.

I've always said if you want hours of entertainment. Get you a ice chest full of beer a couple of lawn chairs and go sit by a boat ramp.

This is one reason I don't own a boat. I am 100% certain I would end up being "that guy"

I know I would be that guy. I could never even try to attempt that.

The boat ramp at my lake house is only usable every so often as its very old, steep, short, and un-maintained. I have been launching from the shore for 20+ years so I love watching people try the ramp or the shore for that matter. Most of what we do on holiday weekends is set up our tent and watch the idiots.

Rule #1- Don't try to launch your shit on anything other than a boat ramp unless your tow vehicle has tires that contain tread equivalent to dune tires or mud boggers. Doesn't matter how much lift or power you have. You roll street tires in sand you are asking to be that guy.

Yeah, one day we'll have a boat of some sort and I decided years ago that I'm not even going to attempt to launch it on my own without someone there who knows WTF they are doing.

Last week at the local marina a guy had bought a new huge fucking cruise liner of a boat. They launched it off a flatbed tractor trailer. It floated for a few minutes then started sinking the guy drove it up on the ramp then it started tipping over and water started coming in over the side. They had forgot to put the damn drain plugs in and that huge big ass boat didn't have a bilge pump. After 14 hours they finally got it floated.

Dumbest thing i did was drop the trailer axle off the ramp(Lake was down pretty good). Had to have my buddy lift up on the trailer(boat off) and ease it up the ramp. Now my current boat is heavy as fuck, on a steep ramp i gotta pour the coal to my 7.3 to get it out of there.

Been fortunate enough to not have done that in all of my boating experience.
