I don't "enjoy" extra maintenance, but how much do you think there will be? I'm replacing the ball joints, brakes, and tires anyway, but what else are we talking about?

Mine is already leveled with 35s, but it still could use a few more inches of clearance in CO, and I'd like to run a slightly larger tire without rubbing.

My truck rides like stock, pro comps kit is very nice, maintenence wise, I don't see any issues arising. I don't off road anyways.

I've put plenty of miles on different forms of lifted trucks. It can really depend on the type of truck that is lifted an how it is used.

I had a 99 f350 4x4 crew cab long bed that had 298k on it when I sold it. I put 100k of that on there with 6" and 37s. Pulled trailers (constantly, one of which was a double car gooseneck) , beat the holy hell out of it at the ranch, and drove like an asshole in general. My buddies dad is still driving it in the same form with who knows how many miles now. The mileage was decent for an f350 and it never had any real maintnance issues.

I drove a Yukon with about 9" of lift and 38s for a few months. It had nothing but street driving its whole life and constant issues. I was glad to see it go.

Anything with bigger than factory tires is going to loose some MPG and wear out items a little faster but if you are okay with that then game on.

My current truck is leveled but my ol lady drives it 99 percent of the time so it will stay that way until I get her a new car. By then it will get a 60 in the front anyway.

I have an 05 Hemi with a 5" lift on 35" tires. It was a little sluggish at first. But after exhaust, intake, and a tune it has no problem getting going now. I've even out-run some stock height trucks. The only maintenance i've had to deal with beyond the usual is brake pads wearing out a little bit faster, but with lifetime brake pads from Autozone it doesn't really matter. I've also lost a little gas mileage, and the tires are expensive as hell. If you don't mind the extra cost of those things then there's nothing to worry about. It looks way better with the lift, don't listen to all the BS people who have never had a lifted truck tell you. A 6" lift isn't going to be a problem for a good truck.

So why did you lift it?

You could have bought an old 4x4 mud beater for the $7k you just dumped into that.

                It does look impressive though.

Just like the look. I have a slammed truck, slammed cars, so a lifted truck appealed to me. Just something different.

It's not the size of the lift, it's the fact it's a Pro Comp lift. The reason 4 Wheel Parts sells so many Pro Comp Lifts is because they own Pro Comp (or Pro Comp owns them, can't remember) and Pro Comp lifts are typically more affordable than the other lift companies they sell. It's also the reason you see a lot of package deals with ProComp lifts through 4Wheel Parts. When it comes down to it, Pro Comp Lifts are complete shit and ride like shit, their parts are cheap and wear out faster than they should. I had one on my old Z71 and it was great the first 6 - 8 months I had it but the ride went to shit after that. You can spend a little more money and get a better quality lift with a better warranty. Do a little googling and you will find tons of people who wasted their money and weren't happy a little ways down the road.

I figured the quality of the lift makes all the difference, but I didn't know which ones are good and which aren't. What brands are solid without being insanely expensive? I've always gone for quality shit on my rides, but I've seen some lift kits for $5k and up, and there's no way I'm dropping that on just a lift.

Honestly though, ride quality for me is secondary to reliability and proper geometry. I am used to an awful ride with my lowered Explorer. It can't be as bad as that. I just don't want anything to fall apart or to cut corners and have something all out of whack. I've been surfing powerstroke.org but it's an ocean of jumbled info to the point that I don't know where to start.

                        OP, sorry for the hijack.

Damn! I like that a lot.

I have the same exact truck except mine is platinum white.

Do you still have to cut the frame to clear front diff when installing kit

Make sure it is aligned perfectly.... Those things get tire pulls just by looking at them.
                              Some cars and a bike...

Some say... they have been raced, some a lot

It drives perfect, and pro comp has come a long way in recent years. This kit wasn't the most expensive or cheapest. They actually said a few other kits. I chose this one cause I have a buddy who has one on his truck and it's been great for him. I've put about 100 miles in two days and it drives awesome. Rides amazingly stock feeling, and I'm happy with it. But we all have opinions. Kind of like I hate dodge and will never own one, but they are a lot better in recent years than they used to be.
