since we are on the subject of more simpler cars... i have been thinking of selling my daily and getting an older beetle that is already in running order to drive to work everyday(4 days a week, less than 20 miles round trip). how much would one cost that is already running and in good shape? i dont need one that is tricked out at all either, in fact i would rather have a plain jane one.

same happened to a homeboy's 745 not too long ago. apparantly it's popular in those 02-04s and bmw will replace your idrive system for a small fee im sure. i believe there was a recall.

I miss my 83 fairmont. That bitch was simple.
The wife had a coworker with a Jeep liberty. She had a check engine light, and when I pulled the code it was a malfunctioning electronic shifter.
Was going to be a few hundred dollars to fix. She said fuck it I'll drive it till it quits.

I'M sure she fixed it when she needed inspection since it failed for it but I wouldn't want any of that electrical sh&t on my shifter ever.

vws arent as simple as people think when you get into how every thing works on them its pretty neat how they are built... To daily drive one, they need constant attention (its a 50 something year old car depending on year you get, stay away from anything 68+). Valves are the main thing to keep and eye one and keep in proper adjustment.

Used bugs in good shape go around 3-4k

                  I miss my 64.
