They may have done that intentionally. The door handles are painted as well. Also, notice there are no "shiney" bits, except the wheels, badges, and exhaust tips. I think the badges should have been shaved, but then again, to each his/her own.

Only reason I say that is the skirting looks aftermarket. But it's been awhile since I sold my '93, so my judgement is fuzzy.
