Not a fan of the "dipped in paint" engine look. Masks the cool details of the assembly.

That is pretty close to the way the factory did them back then. The bypass hose and battery cable were installed before the engine was painted.

Yep, not knocking the "originality" of the look, just not something I prefer. I like the look of a detailed out engine with the clean look of nice fasteners, separately painted valve covers, nicely finished metal surfaces. Just my opinion, not a damnation of doing it another way. The single color approach, while period correct, just takes on too much of a blob look IMHO.
