Who had the 1400hp green vette from like Iowa that looked all stock? I saw it on that show Rides. I always liked the C4's a lot especially the emerald (forest) green ones.

My post above....#68, it was/is actually blue, John Meaney's car...from IL. I got to meet him at Troy Trapanier's shop back in 04'...great guy, and a wizard of some of the early injected/boosted stuff. That car put down 1400 to the tires almost a decade ago....and would still knock down 20mpg out on the road.

here's a pic I took that day (with a pretty shitty camera).....

The C4 is the sexiest Vette body style, IMO, and one of the sexiest car body styles ever. Ya, I said it. I don't see why others hate on it.

My cuz had a brand new '96 in Admiral Blue. It was sweet.

The C4 is the plainest vette body style IMO, but I respect your opinion. A buddy had one back in high school, and we thought it was the bees knees back then. We also thought my uncle's IROC Camaro was the shit too though.

My cousin is re-living the dream, and bought a low mile C4 last year. He's not a car guy and thinks it's the fastest thing ever. I don't have the heart to explain to him that my N/A inline 6 almost has him matched.

Cool car Cobraboy, I was driving a 4 cylinder mustang, followed by a 4 cylinder Ranger when I was your age.

It seems like the obvious way to make reliable power with an LT1 is to swap in an LS1. Can that be done using existing electronics, or would the full harness and EFI be needed?

Those who say you cannot make reliable power are those who never owned one or had one and clapped it out by their own ignorance using inferior parts or cutting corners. I've had my car since new in 1996. It had heads/cam, ran low 12's and was driven to redline daily for over 70,000 miles. Not saying it was fast by any means, but it was extremely reliable. Never left me stranded and never broke anything engine related. For the last five years it's had a 396 solid roller setup still running only the second optispark ever to be put on the car and has been trouble free with 7000rpm shift points. Still, not blindingly fast, but it gets the job done when needed. Jordon, Shawn and a slew of others did the same thing and their cars were driven daily.
It's not reliability that is the concern, but rather dated parts and yesteryear performance. It should read more like if you want to go faster reliably than a LSx platform is a good choice.

BTW.. I don't believe those are downpipes under the intake, but rather inlets plumbed into the intercooler.

You can see the filter up behind the bumper, those inlet pipes must wrap around and go up to behind the front number on each side to the filter. It just looks weird because you can only see the downpipe wrapping back around up by the filter.

I would be concerned about the bushings in the front suspension with their proximity to the turbo flange however.

I don't know how it is routed beyond what is seen. Perhaps the intercooler is taller than the radiator therefore they are fastened just below the radiator? The point is the downpipes are not directly below the intake, and it's unknown if that part of the intake is even plastic...

Seems kinda funny second-guessing one of the fastest, sneakiest street cars ever built.
