He wrote an article on the top ten most reliable engines in lemons, and the ones you would think would be great (because they run forever on the streets) werent there. Some of the odd ones that you wouldnt think would hold 20 mins without shitting a crank were topping the list. I dont remember what # the 4.6 mod made, but #3 comes to mind. An alpha was #1, based on # of cars run vs # of cars finished.

I have been told that about the SBC's. It seems that the 302's last longer than a 350 or 305's don't really know what these guys use. If I had to use a SBC I would try to do a 283 or maybe a 327 for the shorter stroke like in a 302. I bet a 4.8L LS would run a long time.

      LOL at the 500 budget.

All older V8's in Chump/Lemons that last any decent amount of time have limiters that keep them below 4500rpm.

I find it impossible to believe an SBC won't live. Any dirt track racer worth a nickel could make one run for hours at full throttle with some very minor pan/pickup/pump/oil control tricks.

            Let's see that list!!

I was going to say, tell that to all the local yokels who used SBC's for circle track for the last six thousand years...

hours of actual track time... just not at once. SBC's dont have priority oiling to the crank, nor do lsx's.

                and they froth the oil.

That's what I was thinking when my buddy said he was going thru a bunch of 302's. I told him well shit put a SBC in that bitch then I won't have to keep fixing your damn c4 and he promptly said those damn SBC wont stay together. I told him to go tell that to the junkers down at the dirt track. I had a 350/350 combo that ran for 4 years with nothing but oil/filter/plug changes in a bomber back in the '90s even won champion 2 years in a row.

I would think that with all those damn moving parts on a 4 cam engine would be a disaster waiting to happen.

10-12 20-min sprint races is for example the same amount of time it takes to go around TWS about 100 times. This weekend the top cars went 600 laps in 24 hours.

the fuel and amp guages are still fox, and still working, the eng temp guage I got to work, but the oil pressure isnt so far. Im going to try a fox sender and see if that fixes it.
I was reffering to that "cobra" gauge conversion kit you bought from me, was curious how they turned out.

Yeah 350s suck as well as all Lsx motors.
That's why they have been putting them in fords for evea!!

This thread is full of BULLSHIT.
                            FAIL!!!!

Lately, Chevy has dominated. A Chevrolet has won Nascar’s Sprint Cup title for seven straight years, and Chevrolet has won the manufacturer title for nine straight. And yet, since the cars all looked the same, many fans didn’t notice. While Dodge and Toyota also race in Nascar, no Toyota driver has won a title in Nascar’s premier series, and none has won in a Dodge since Richard Petty in 1975.
