  • **My New/Old Ride...Another moneypit**

It's been a while since I posted and pics or vids so I just wanted to show what i've been messing with lately. A stock 5.0....yeah I know exciting LOL. Anyway it's been a lot more enjoyable and reliable than a racecar at this point. And a hell of alot cheaper as well. It's a stock 5.0 GT Convertible with black tweed interior which I personally haven't seen in a convertible before. Always see the tweed gray or if it's black then the leather which i'm not very fond of. To find this car was a real treat and it was in good condition for being 20yrs old but it needed some work. First off the AOD took a shit and I wasn't about to put another one in so my dad converted it to 5spd. Made what I would consider a basic trip to 5.0 resto to get a catback and left with $1500 worth of I dont know what. That place is terrible for mustang guys I swear and taking my dad was a mistake, he's worse than me.

I ended up getting some KYB shocks and struts as the Tokico's weren't in stock. As well as subframe connecters, upper and lower control arms, x-pipe, flowmaster catback, new clutch and other misc crap that i can't even remember. What a difference all that made to the ride and handling. I'm used to spool's, solid bushings and anti roll bars. Making turns was never a thought with those cars.

Anyway here's some pics of how she sits now and of course it's not done yet nor is it ever. Still need door moldings and considering adding a cobra bumper and tails but the GT bumper is kinda wearing on me. I kinda feel like I have that same feeling my dad must of had 25 yrs ago when he bought his although he had to wait years before the aftermarket got real big. Looking at new wheels and a brake upgrade before I decide to tear into the stock motor but it will all likely consist of the old school Ford MOTORSPORT stuff you would of seen back then. I got a Gt40 intake and am looking for some gt40 heads and a b-cam an that will be good enough for me. Might even get crazy and slap some rockers on the exhaust side and a texas turbo cold air Who knows i'll probably sell it first so i can finish my other projects

Did you just buy this car? I think I remember seeing it for sale when I was trying to sell my 'vert. Looks clean man, I love those rims on a fox.

Damn that's clean! Funny thing, I hate the cobra wheels on the SN95 Cobra, but I love them on fox bodies.

Very clean. Did you do the 5-lug swap or was it like that when you bought it?

No have had it sitting for a while until I gathered all the parts to get it to this point. I'd consider it my stage 1 LOL. I'm not one to put one thing on at a time it's either everything up to a point or nothing at all. Planning Cobra brakes and 18" wheels next. Then the engine work after that.

I had some axles I had bought years ago laying around as well as some lincoln rotors. Did the swap and added some 3.73's at the same time. Had the wheels as well and I felt it would look alot better than the regular pony's unless they were 17" versions. So went ahead and did the swap as well as upgrade all the stock suspension pieces. I need bigger tires and a spacer in the back to get the better look but gotta take the axles back out for that as the damn studs aren't long enough.

I like it... We think the same way mod wise. I haven't been able to do shocks, struts, and springs yet, but all the other mods have been the same. Even the 5 speed swap.
