if he wanted to give the ball to the kid cool. but watch the fucking video. he didnt trample anyone to get it. it was tossed right to him and his reaction obviously shows the ball meant something to the ol' man. boo fucking hoo. if that kid wants a ball so bad, he has many seasons left in him. for all i know, thats the guys 500th game and that was his first ball. i know i've been to at least 200 and never had a shot at one and i dont give a shit who played, who won, what the situation was. your first ball is a big deal to me anyway.

Exactly, this is the only reason I would not give a kid a foul/HR. I've never caught a major league ball so until I do I'm keeping it if it comes off a bat, I'm not interested in one tossed to me the kids can have those.

I doubt the guy tossing the ball in the stands was throwing it to the old man.

Also, lol @ a bunch of adults chastising a small child for crying. I forgot all the DFWM billy bad asses already had full time jobs and walked uphill 15 miles in the snow to get there when they were that age.

I've made the decision to never sit near a kid at a Rangers game if I can help it. If I'm lucky enough to get a ball there isn't a kid in that park that's going to take it away from me, and I would rather just not deal with a bunch of assholes judging me for it.

I've also decided if I ever get a ball that I don't want for some reason, I'm giving it to a kid that isn't crying. I'll pass right by a crybaby, and reward a kid who doesn't just expect the ball handed to him.

Well we did, so don't forget next time.

...although in all seriousness I was not rewarded for throwing crying fits. I learned early on that crying would get me nothing, and I am thankful to my father for that.

I paid for a seat, that spoiled little brat didn't.

My son when he was about that age wanted a choo-choo train at a cra cker barrel in Hattiesburg Miss., he cried for about 2 hours. By the time we got to Vicksburg I wanted to dump his ass in the mighty Mississippi. He eventualy stopped crying and that was that...

You let him cry for two hours? weak.

when I was young, and would start crying, my dad would do this.
He would make me put my nose against my closet door, and hold my hands straight up above my head. He said, you can cry as long as you want, as long as you stay in that position. Needless to say, your arms feel like concrete after about 2 minutes.

Wow, I am shocked at how many selfish people are on this forum. Looking out for number one only. This isn't about setting an example and showing that kid that only the strong survive, it's about trying to justify being a selfish prick.

I've been going to Ranger games for 15 years, and have never gotten a ball. It would make my month if I actually got a hold of one. If you think that i'm giving that up for some random kid who isn't going to appreciate it for more than five minutes, then I guess i'm selfish.

The news had a clip on that little kid this morning, and I see now why he wanted that ball! Turns out the little guy actually does know who the players are, and has a couple of favorites. Looks like a real fan even!
