A ball like that I would have given to the kid, but a foul ball or home run that I caught fair and square is mine I don't care how much that kid cried.

Maybe I'm bitter because of my early childhood games I attended.

In 1995, I had some sweet ass seats to the all star game. Literally sitting 3 feet from the rail, at the base of the patch of grass. Right on the rail next to the grass (across the steps) and right on the front rail. Front row, and the seat closest to the side rail. During the game, and the preceding home run derby there must have been 100 balls that hit that patch of grass. With probably best seat in the stadium for catching home run balls, you'd think I'd at least get a shot at one. I was 10 years old, and would BLAST over that rail and sprint my heart out to the balls. Problem is, that rail was lined with people from all over the stadium doing the same thing. It sucked because my seats were actually right there, and I didnt get shit. Even at 10 years old, I realized if I was a little stronger and faster I would have got some, but I didn't cry about nor did I through a fit.

Honestly I think that an adult is going to appreciate a ball caught at the ballpark more than a little kid ever would. Maybe not for the first three minutes, but every second after that. If I had a son, and he was at a game with me, then I would give him the ball. I don't have kids though, so if a ball comes right at me and I catch it. Then that ball is mine. I'm not going to run a kid over for it, but if it comes right to me i'm keeping it. I've always wanted to catch a Ranger ball, and i'm not giving that up because someone else's kid is going to cry about it. If you have a whinny kid that's your problem, I'm carefull to not have kids so I don't have to deal with shit like that. So why would I give up something important to me for someone else's mistakes. Besides like others have said, that ball is going to end up in a toy chest, the dog's new chew toy, or the dad will end up keeping it.

The wonderful world of everyone gets a prize. Nice to see little dude got a ball in the end and hope he realized it was not from him throwing a fit and getting instant gratification for it.

I've posted this elsewhere, but what if the couple has a kid at home they want to give the ball to? Other than that, if I caught it, it isn't my job to make your kid happy.

Well IMO when Mooreland was tossing the ball he was probably trying to toss it to the kid. In which I would of just gave that to the kid. NOW, if that fucking ball is hit then that's a different fucking story. If I caught a home run or foul ball then I'm fucking keeping it!

Unless it's from a team I don't really like then ill give it to a kid if their is one next to me... which I hope their isn't because I cuss a ton when I'm at games
