Time lost on that kind of vacation going back and forth for bags?!?!? Screw that! Can't they send them to your hotel when they get in? I've had airlines do that for me in the past, granted, it was here in the states.
Awesome trip and pics though!

Somehow we got flagged by customs at Barcelona and they held our bags. British Airways was supposed to deliver but called the hotel and said we had to go back so customs can go through our bags. 5 minutes of searching and they found nothing so we left again.

Johannesburg, Zerust, Rustenburg were the main areas.

Yes and no... Every house has 8'+ walls with barb wire and/or electric fence. The police use ADT Armed response to protect the station. I didnt see any crime, I felt pretty safe. The country just lacks proper infrastructure. I felt safe in Johannesburg than I did in Monterrey, Mexico...

Honestly, I think it is a status deal in Africa. Andrea is in Rwanda right now and the well to do houses have tall wall/fences, steel gates and security, but the violent crime is almost non-existent. Tall walls in Africa are like big farm trucks in DFW neighborhoods
