Just hunker down and let the clowns weed themselves out.

P-cola you must be in a training command. If you are in training let your grades speak for you. If you are the trainer give everyone the same deal and the flotsam and jetsam will float to the top on their own accord for you to scoop off.

Always remember the feet you step on today might be attached to the proverbial ass you have to kiss in the future. If you are waiting in the F-35 pipeline hope you brought a snickers bar.

Yea, I'm in training down here, CSO school. I'm ready to be outta here though. Pcola is a decent base, but this place is just more south Alabama than it is Florida.

And no, not waiting on the F-35 at all! Not unless they make a 2 seat variant.

I thought all branches were doing that these days.

I know at Dyess, the "security forces" manning the gates aren't even civil service. They are a private security company.

I was going on base one day and saw one of my buddies "picking up a extra shift" manning the main gate. At the time, he was normally a security guard at Blue Cross/Blue Shield.

Not something I totally agree with, but they don't ask me.

I always found it entertaining, people having their music too loud would not hear retreat. NCOs and officers alike would light them up if it stayed that way throughout the process.

It's not that hard to look down, note the time and turn down the music until you hear it. We also did not get out of the cars, we did stop though.

I hated carrying things as enlisted that required both hands. The saluting business has its place, but you can't walk longer distances with both hands full. Even if out of 20 officers, 19 understand your situation and they are affecting your mission - there is 1 that'll waste 5-10 more minutes of your time. We'd take all non-normal routes when going to/from motor pools and such to avoid saluting when carrying things.

That shit out east of Marine wives drove me fuckin nuts. Thinking they could talk to you however and tell you what to do based on what rank their husband held.
Downs, just remember the Admiral two Admirals ago was female. She is still on base from time to time, and is a full Admiral now.

Strange... maybe thats the new trend everywhere. Its not a private security company on base, they are "base police" directly employed by the DOD.

Every time I have been down to Eglin or Hurlburt it has been an active duty guy at the gate. Maybe its just those two...

And it may have changed since then, this was a few years ago(4 or 5 years).

I probably haven't been on base in the last 2 years. I normally only go if my parents need me to help carry something for them or it is something that they need my pickup for.
