Do they make those EFI adapters for the 302 (5.0) blocks? I have a 4bbl and would love EFI.

Unless you include the 2 Boss 429 Cougars that were supposedly built in 69.

Professional Products has that "fake Carb" EFI set up. I like it the most.

I may have the year fucked up, it was def a 429 though, not sure if stock.
He also had a thunderbird, around the same year, with the same setup.

Supposedly built. And I was thinking his buddy doesn't have one of those two mythilogical cars,

429's were available in Birds in 1968 as a "Thunderjet".

EFI intakes are still cheap as balls in junkyards.

I thought the owner was full of it when he said hydraulic, but I hadn't gotten a chance to look. Figured there might be a canister somewhere.

I love to see someone bring a classic, especially a Cougar back from the dead, but you may want to do some serious research before you get spend too much money on this project. From the rust in the floor pans and top, the quarters are most likely junk as well. Quarter skins for the 69/70 Cougars are randomly available and vary greatly in quality making them difficult to replace. Parts for the Cougars that are Cougar specific can be really, really expensive. If you really want a Cougar and are planning on keeping for it for a while, I say get after it. If you think you are going to build it cheap and rock it for a short time and turn it for a profit, you should look to a different kind of project. The Cougars, which I think are one of the coolest cars ever, don't reflect their coolness in what they bring on the open market. In most cases, you can buy a really nice restored Cougar for way less than you can build one.

That being said, I have built three of them so far and I love them. I just wanted to offer my .02. Enjoy.
Thanks for the input, always glad to hear from someone that has done it. The quarters aren't too bad, the lower portions, before that bend in the body line are starting to bubble through the paint. Again, the top is bubbling up, but it's not too bad yet. I am not looking to turn a profit on the car, but I am not looking for a show car either, just daily driver quality again. I think it sucks that people restore these old cars to show quality then turn them into garage queens.

As for the cost of building it. I have built a Thunderbird SC from the transmission up and modded out two SN95 mustangs and I never once saw my money back out. At least a classic will retain it's value longer than the newer ones will. Would rather spend the money to put a classic on the road than a new one.

You get all these people smiling, waving, and giving you the thumbs up. Who wants that kind of attention ?! Just do like the masses and buy a Prius so you too can hate the world all while saving it !!

By the way, I just got the new carpet put in my '66 yesterday and drove it home. Sure is fun not having power steering and power brakes. It makes you pay attention a lot more to what the hell you're doing !

Lol, yeah I should be miserable on the road. Nice thing about the cougar, power steering and power disc brakes on the front end.

Yeah, I will send you a PM. My seats look OK, but my door panels are kinda crappy. Thanks! My dad can probably help me with the floor pans, but I will look into OrangeChevy.

Floor pans are not hard...I guess Im just getting lazy these days. I would way rather pay someone that is very familiar with them than do them myself. If you have not done them before, make sure you do some research on proper jackstand placement to support the frame fails since it is a unibody car.
