  • Now that is a fender with some character

This fender was orange when I got it, I started stripping it getting ready to put in primer so that I can put it on the truck...appears it started life on a sky blue truck, then at some point painted over in green, and then finally found its way to orange.

Makes me wonder....was this thing a replacement on 3 different trucks (about to be 4)....or perhaps it was on a truck that went through a few color changes over the years.

Makes you realize what all these old cars/trucks go through over ~40-years, though. So far it's really straight and I've found no filler on it (that's a miracle).

What does the rest of the truck look like? Its possible, or the rest of the truck might have 3 paint jobs. I personally like the hugger orange on the C10s

Do the whole truck like that and then clear over it.

I don't know what the truck looked like that it came off of...it actually came with my truck when I bought it (the one in my sig)....I'm having to replace one fender and one bedside because of this....

Luckily both replacements were included when I picked it up. I'll start up a build thread on it before long....been collecting parts for a while, just got some new wheels and tires for it too...hoping to have those on this weekend.

I may well be talking to Mark about putting some fresh paint on it this summer too.

Ouch.. My coupe has 4 coats of paint on it. the original black and white, red, and 2 more black coats. I should have stripped it down, on this last paint job. Once I get my 85 done, I am taking the 93 down to the metal, and painting it white and black.

Yeah...the LWB's look that much longer when you lower them too IMO. I've kind of been into the long ones for the past couple years, though. Just something different for a change I suppose. I've got a new style Coy's wheel going on it soon, with some big rubber on the rear, and I'm thinking that might help balance out the long look of it.

I've been kicking around the idea of eventually shortening it, but not right away. For now I'm concentrating on getting the body straightened out on that left side (everything else is very straight and solid), get the new wheels/tires mounted up, and then turn focus to the drivetrain....I'm getting the 6.0 ready to go in it soon, but I still have to locate a trans for it. I hope to be pulling the old 307 out sometime in the next month or so.

...but I'm still waffling on whether or not I'm going to carb that 6.0 or not. At this point my mind has been changing back & forth almost daily!
