Falconers!

Ran into some Falconers last night. They were in downtown Ft Worth fighting the Grackles. They were packing up when I found them so no action shots unfortunately. They were using Harris Hawks.

That's very cool. I know people hunt dove and quail with them but i have never seen one in action before.

Those are awesome to watch when they are working. I never knew they used them for that purpose though, I'd love to see that.

They use them in Chicago to keep pigeons at bay. That's why there are less there than in New York. It's awesome to watch them pluck one right out of the sky.

Badass. In Texas you can legally hunt via falconry. There is a whole section in the little hand book they give you when you buy a hunting license on the legality of falconry.

I need to re-read it. I remember I got a good laugh about it when I was skimming the section on dove hunting. You could sit in a sunflower field with lawn chairs and a 24 pack and let the falcons do all the work.
