  • My new project. 85 coupe

Its not much to look at, as it still wears it's original paint from 1985. It is a roller. It has a 8.8 in it already, and it had the full interior, and all of the wiring. I am about to go buy a negative battery cable and see if all the lights and stuff work. I only paid 350.00 for it. Things it will need, motor and trans. I am shooting for a 408, and T56. I may just swap my motor and trans, out of my coupe, after I build the 408. I need to put the arm rests back on it, and replace the side window. Its broken, but I got a good door with glass. I will update, as I make progress on it.

Looks like a lot of work, but not bad for 350. GL.

Looks like a fun project. Please tell me you're not going to use those late model 1/4 windows.

I plan on modernizing it, so for the price got those for, I'll leave it as a option.

Agreed, keep it 4 eye original, with an updated drivetrain. Nothing cooler than an original looking 4 eye car that hauls ass!

Does anyone know where to get 85-86 noses, that are not 500.00? Sheesh! The lx 87-93, and the 85-86 noses are crazy expensive. I heard certifit, but they are not showing it online. I put a battery on it tonight. All of the lights fired up, and the original radio came on and was clear as a bell. The windshield wipers even worked, and that annoying 4 eye buzzer lol. I am starting to get excited about this car. First up will be to start under the hood. I plan on smoothing it out. I am debating 3 colors. Vibrant Red, Silver, or Sonic Blue. What do yall think? The car will have black interior so that will not matter.

Silver has been done. I would go sonic blue. Keep the four eye look. There aren't enough around and 85-86 are the best front ends. Your car is about where mine was. It took a lot of elboe grease but it is cool when you drive it for the first time.

The front clip is the least of your worries. It gets somewhat difficult finding some parts. 5.0resto had gotten a lot of stuff for them in the last couple of years though.

The only body panel I need is the front driver extension on the fender. All of the molding is perfect. I really lucked out there. My dad was asking me who I planned on keeping the awesome mustang logo at the bottom of the door lmao.

Nice find. Do red with black trim, and put an LS1 in it.

                            underhood pics ?

FWIW, i wouldnt smooth under the engine bay unless their is alot of damage or rust. That car cleaned up will be worth some $$ in the years ahead.

Or just get the 50resto fender aprons and be done. (they install like factory)

keep it simple and CLEAN with a good divetrain.
                            One day at a time.
