My 69 has an 8.8 from a 97 cobra, and cobra disks front and rear.
This is what I plan on doing to my '66 coupe. How much longer is the 8.8 compared to what is on from factory?--carlos

I used the vintage venom front kit, that gives you the built in 1" spacing needed to run the sn95 type wheel. Most guys run a 1" spacer on the rear, and since I pretty much have to run them on the front, I built it into the rear with the axle."If I asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses." - Henry Ford

There are a few different ways to get an 8.8 under a classic. Most of them involve shortening one axle of an Exploder rear and welding spring perches on it. Doable, but for some reason I have a mental block on that one. Somebody like Kevin (Homealone) will tell you it's stupid simple and cheap. Maybe it is but it makes me go cross-eyed. Probably the reason that the rear is the only thing I haven't replaced on mine.
It has stamped steel brackets with a bolt and maybe even a spacer, while it may never have an issue, it could flex under hard braking.
You have to run a 17" wheel, and without a custom wheel, you need a spacer to clear the upper arm and ball joint."If I asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses." - Henry Ford
