65-68's are begging for a fox length 8.8. Cut the lower arm mounts of, weld leaf perches on.

My 69 has an 8.8 from a 97 cobra, and cobra disks front and rear.

This is what I plan on doing to my '66 coupe. How much longer is the 8.8 compared to what is on from factory?

'67-'70 are all the same width. 4 wheel disc brakes on those cars are very cool!

Yep, I was a bit off. 65-66 are 57.25" wide, 67 - 70 are 59.25" wide. The fox is 59.37" or some thing similar.

I used the vintage venom front kit, that gives you the built in 1" spacing needed to run the sn95 type wheel. Most guys run a 1" spacer on the rear, and since I pretty much have to run them on the front, I built it into the rear with the axle.

If/when I do mine again, I'll probably go with these that use SN95 Cobra brakes. http://www.ultrastang.com/products4.php

There are a few different ways to get an 8.8 under a classic. Most of them involve shortening one axle of an Exploder rear and welding spring perches on it. Doable, but for some reason I have a mental block on that one. Somebody like Kevin (Homealone) will tell you it's stupid simple and cheap. Maybe it is but it makes me go cross-eyed. Probably the reason that the rear is the only thing I haven't replaced on mine.
I don't like two things about that kit:

It has stamped steel brackets with a bolt and maybe even a spacer, while it may never have an issue, it could flex under hard braking.

You have to run a 17" wheel, and without a custom wheel, you need a spacer to clear the upper arm and ball joint.

Make a note, hit me up when you move to the next project and want to sell. I've been thinking hard about getting another classic as a project and this one looks like a damn clean start.

How? By sucking up every cheap fox body that isn't nailed down and turning an obscene profit. That's my theory anyway.
