  • Dropped the 76 today

So after teh Mark VIII was totaled I pioked up a 76 C10.

Finally installed the springs and flip kit today after work.

    Here is the result:

Here is also a link to a bunch more photos of what has been done so far.

Still have interior to finish and needs new wheels. But for now it is what it is.

I had an 82 SWB, my first car. I blew up the 305 and dropped in a 406. I never should have sold that truck.

The 350 that's in there now needs a rebuild. I am going to put it off as long as I can and then go nuts with it!! It will make one hell of a tow rig fore sure!

I got the drop springs and the flip brackets off eBay from 2 different transactions.

            $90 in the set :-)

Definately needs new rear shocks now!!!!!!!!
They were questionable before, now it just plain sucks ass!!!

Ok, so I will publicly admit I'm a dumdass!!!

Note to self: recheck every nut after you drive around the block a couple times!!!!

U-bolts not tightened all the way so the brackets that sit in the perches on the flip kit have have now broke the welds on the factory spring perches due to the axle housing pivoting!!
Now in addition to replacing the rear shocks, I get to repair those as well.
Need to get a welder and new spring perches now.
                :-(

It was a dual purpose thought when I picked it up. At this point the Stang project in the garage may not need to be towed for QUITE a while so towing with the 76 may not be an issue.

Have to fix some welds on the axle now after yesterdays discovery too.

                    Always something
