They were likely getting into the open lane to get out from behind the rubber neckers. This creates a rolling road block for the officer which gives the Vette more time to put a gap on him at a respectable speed.
I can also say that the officer only got up to 60 MPH at his fastest, slowed down to 50 MPH on the bridge, went around a group of cars that were still traveling at a slow rate, yet he caught him on the off ramp.
No reckless driving for the Vette needed as there was a considerable amount of time when the officer couldn't even get into traffic.
So, what do you consider as a "respectable speed" for the Vette? Given the time and distance traveled I would guess that the Vette's speed was at LEAST that of the trooper, if not more.
Oh, and I am probably closer than you since the video was removed.

Now that I'm at a real computer, I can justify my earlier response.
When courts have trials, they already have a jury available. It doesn't cost any more than if the jury sat all day and never heard a case.
Nine times out of ten, when its all set to go to trial, the defendant decides to take a plea.

I ended up at a stoplight in the SVO today next to a red Supra. Two cars behind us was a cop. When the light turned green we both crawled away, and short shifted as softly as we could. I could still hear our turbo's and both cars still had loud exhaust. I made sure to stay well under the limit as did the supra, and the cop still tucked in right behind us. and hugged my back bumper like we where felons in waiting. When the supra turned right the cop pulled along side me and shot me the stink eye. He stayed next to me for a block before abruptly accelerating and driving off.
Was it bull shit, maybe. But it's something that I've come to expect. When ever I see a cop I am on my best behavior. I find a higher gear an stay off the loud pedal. had I pulled away from the light with even a little aggression, I'd probably have my own thread about "ftp I got a street racing ticket!"

David (CobraJet69) was in a ride-along with me when we pulled up alongside a VERY nice Ford GT. David and I both gave the driver the wave and we ended up stalking him, I mean talking to him at the next red light. The car only had 1800 miles on it and it was a beaut!

I have never had any training or education in regards to being a lawyer.
I'm on my phone, so multi-quote is not an option.
All joking aside, I really did put some time in on evaluating the video while it was up. I do know that it is still an estimate and not admissable in court in any shape, form, or fashion.
Using your model of distance and some very basic software, I was actually able to duplicate the process for 33 repititions in an attempt to eliminate human error. I'm pretty confident in my numbers.
It also shows that the officer was not as reckless as previously thought.

I hear Allen cops get docked a day's pay if they don't show up to court. So there is no chance of dismissal there.Originally posted by BradMBut, just like condoms and women's rights, I don't believe in them.Originally posted by LeahIn other news: Brent's meat melts in your mouth.
