  • Arigato from Japan...

As we approach the one year anniversary (tomorrow) of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami, please take a few minutes to watch this video. The Japanese are such a wonderful people and have an amazing (and yes, sometimes very strange, to us) culture. I feel so fortunate to have lived among them for over 3 years and to have gotten to experience them and their culture. They are a proud and honorable people, and the whole world could certainly learn something from them in how they responded to this tragedy. They heartfelt thanks expressed in this video should not be underestimated, because it is completely sincere. I for one am so very proud with how we, as Americans, rushed to the aid of some of our closest friends in the world. And a special kudos to our (my) Navy for the phenomenal speed and effectiveness with which aid was rendered.

I remember being in Qatar and seeing this happen on Fox/CNN as it all unfolded.

Glad to see they are bouncing back. I miss living in Japan, would love to go back.

The Tsunami is, unfortunately, the least of the problems from that disaster. The Fukushima meltdown has ruined a large portion of that country for the foreseeable future.

Miyako and I are planning to go to Tokyo next October so my inlaws can meet the baby. However my Mother in law is spooked by new geologist reports. They are claiming that another 8.0 is possible, right in Tokyo with the next few years. I told my wife to just let it slide for now. We're still going, but we won't bring it up for a few months.
