I had a bunch of this shit when I was a kid. However, I think that Forever_frost has been digging in my toy chest. I have memories of watching ghostbusters with my family and "catching" the ghosts while watching Ghostbusters 2

A real working steam engine that belonged to my father's dad, made in germany (terribly cool if you are the mechanical type). My father gave it to me when I was very young and taught me how it worked, how to maintain it, what not to touch under operation, etc... Probably the coolest thing I own to this day. I once brought it to school for a project I was reporting on in the 3rd grade and I specifically remember my teacher being amazed at my knowledge of how every last part worked.

My Yamaha Allegro trumpet, that I played for shit... nearly 15 years. I have laid hundreds of soldiers to rest with this instrument, personally heralded the Queen of England, played taps at the 60th anniversary of D-Day at Omaha beach, woke up and put to sleep my corps of cadets every morning and night at military school. Senators, Presidents, the moving of the liberty bell in PA... shit, the list goes on forever. I have frozen to near hypothermia holding this instrument at attention. I get chills everytime I look at this worn and beat to hell device.

And lastly, my violin... I bought this in a pawn shop when I was young... remember the theme song from the movie, "October Sky"? That is what got me started... This movie captivated me as a kid -I can't even explain what this song does to me. I had to learn it, it was and is to this day the most beautiful song I have ever heard... Without lesson I learned how to play this by ear, and I haven't stopped since.

This thread is full of memories, but on a side note, what military academy did you go to?
