There's still time! He is supposed to be studying nuclear reactors, after all. Let's just hope he doesn't take out an entire region when he fucks up.

4.0 in my major; minor in math already completed (second semester as a junior). What I would stay away from are any reactors in the US. They ARE ticking time bombs. Ever hear of Fukushima? Sister reactors are scattered across the US like M&Ms. If the US ever has a bad blackout (I'm talking country wide), those things will ALL start melting down without power. Power companies are only required to keep a week's worth supply of diesel fuel to keep the water pumps running, which might not be enough.

If you hear of a massive blackout, you head for the fucking hills.

Where do you get your info? I'm just curious, because there are so many damn regulations out there for nuclear power. I'm sure that a plant has a requirement to have a backup power supply that will at a minimum last long enough allow them to properly cool down.

                    Also, that video was awesome.

PWR/BWR reactors take months to cool down. It is an inherit design flaw of them. It is literally impossible to keep months worth of fuel on site. The current solution is just lots of tankers running back and forth between the reactors and various refineries.

This is exactly why Fukushima partially melted: the backup generators ran out of fuel.

                      EDIT:

I said "might" because in a full blackout, the power grid might not be up in running in less than a week. The reactor, on the other hand, are guaranteed to still need MASSIVE amounts of cooling.

You have got to be one fucked up individual to have nothing better to do then question something you know absolutely nothing about. That guy deserved that punch.

Yet once again, Mike Tyson and his great quote comes up again. "Everyone has a plan, till they get punched in tha mouf".
