Do you have a business plan? I'm not saying you'll fail without one or succeed with one. I'm just curious.

Its nice to see your getting on your feet. The last i remember from you was you couldnt pay to have a water leak fixed.
Clean up the shop and make it look like a business and not a hang out. Keep your business cards clean and simple. The ones you are thinking of are trashy for a mechanics shop. I could see a performance shop doing something like that.
Are you ase? If so put it up front and center. Your customers will have more faith if they see that sign.
If you can advertise on local radio or papers you will get more business. It all about how much you can spend.

We are kinda a redneck-out-in-the-middle-of-nowhere kinda place. We are not some big chain nor will we be. When I was in car sales all my dealer cards had cars on them and people would hang onto them. Gad customers come back a couple years latter still with the card I gave them just cause they liked them.
That being said there is something for simplicity.Good judgment comes from bad decisions and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.

Collect underwear.
???
Profit.
Seriously though there is much that needs to be done. I do need a pros help for some things but will have to just wing some others. I know what expenses are, know what needs to be done to cover it all, know how to work on cars and so far have never had an unhappy customer. I know thats not enough.
I got all my tax crap done and registered the name. I have a seperate account setup for tax payments and have a base salary for myself and partner plus commision based off shops profit after shop expenses are covered. Small portion for both of us and a larger portion to go back into the shop so we can grow and I can get a real office manager soon to take care of the paperwork skills I lack.
I appreciate everyones advice and am taking it to heart. Based on what people here have said I have changed to a more appropriate name. I also am working on advertizement. Gonna do mail flyers for Golinda and Robinson cause they are cheap (post master gave me a hookup) plus I am trying to get a billboard at the I35 exit that would leed to our exit. Only so much I can do at once.
Cards are cheap though. $50 for 1500 with the pictures I posted so I will prolly get them anyway and if they seem tacky then I will go the simple route.Good judgment comes from bad decisions and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.

I was just thinking of something else. I used to be the Audi manager at Maui Harley Davidson/Kawasaki/Vespa/Audi and we had a pool table there for waiting customers. It was a big hit and cusomers would bring in friends all the time to play pool and always ended up buying stuff. Also kept annoying customers out of my hair while their Audi was being worked on.
I understand most of you have issues with it and say between the table and cars on the cards that you wouldnt come but if free beer/steaks/burgers and a car show cant get you there then I sure wouldnt expect a card or pool table to make a difference.
Fact of the matter is its a small town. I do damn good work at a very fair price and to me thats the most important thing.Good judgment comes from bad decisions and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.

If you want to put up a wall to separate a waiting room. Go ahead and keep the table if its nice. Make the business side as nice as you can.
DO you want to work on Junk? or nicer cars?
Ive turned wrenches for a few small time shop owners, and the more upscale one got guess what, more upscale clients. With more upscale clients comes more $$$
The cars are usually nicer to work on as well, and they actually pay their bill.
