    BUT

If you have the misfortune of going through one, you are not accomplishing ANYTHING by being a douche to the cop. He could have said no and been out of there a minute earlier. Refusing to answer the cops questions is not going to stop random checkpoints from being used, and I'd be willing to bet that this guy has not made any effort to address his displeasure with the procedure through the proper channels to try and get this policy changed.

Sure, this guy exercised his rights not to answer, but what did it accomplish? If he would have smelled of booze or slurred on any one of his questions, he would have been out of the car with a quickness. If the cops really wanted to be dicks, they would have just said they smelled booze anyway, and later say he failed or refused a field sobriety test.

Hooray for sticking it to "the man" er.... being a douche and changing nothing.
    ^this, and thank you.

I don't think anyone likes their rights infringed upon, but doing this does nothing.

Nice try at trolling. Of course, zero people in this thread have said that. One person implied it. Get a new hobby.

Wow, I'm glad few people in 1776 thought like this. What the fuck is wrong with this country?

The people in 1776 did something about changing the laws they didn't like, and created new ones that they did .The douche refusing to answer a question didn't change shit.

Also - it would seem you (and the rest of you that are so up in arms) don't like this policy - as it infringes on your rights and freedoms, what have you done specifically to have the policy changed?

Oh I see, exactly what law gave police the power to run DUI checkpoints? Can you let us all know which one that is so we can change it?

I'll give you a hint, there wasn't one. SO WHAT NOW?

What now is they will be conducting checkpoints today, tomorrow, and until further notice anyways.

What have you done to change it?

I see, you won't answer my question, because you have done exactly nothing about having DUI checkpoints stopped - same as me, but you can't just admit to that - you have to act like a child and resort to name calling instead.

                            Carry on.

Now it is time for you to try to change the scope of the argument, go ahead fool, amuse me with your bullshit.
