I love scratch-building my own ideas in the blue house insulation foam. You get to learn a lot and if/when you stuff it into the ground you do not feel bad since the basic airframe only cost pennies.

I used to love to fly the fast planes, but now I like relaxing with the slow ultra-light park flyers.

You have to be careful what you order from them. Their house brand sucks but most of the Turnigy stuff rocks. I have many hours on Turnigy packs and motors without a single puff or glitch.

To put that P-51 over 100 MPH you will need the digital tail servo, reinforce the tail feathers and get the Turnigy bundle: 35-36c or 35-36a (C has a TON of power but slurps up the battery fast), Plush 60 60-amp BEC brushless controler, Turnigy 3S 2500 (or bigger) 40c LiPo and a few speed props like an 8x8, 8x9, 9x8 and maybe even a 9x9. Be a good idea to get a watt meter too so you dont tax the ESC out.
Good judgment comes from bad decisions and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.

first here's a few shots of my P-51

The other day I put gear on my mustang tto practice taking off and landing.

        and here's the reason why.

picked it up used but not flown.

I'm a little nervous to fly it.

gave the old cub another makeover and some upgrades found it.
new wing with ailerons, new digital receiver, all new servos, a more powerful brush-less motor, and fresh paint.

I think so too. Just waiting on the esc and a less windy day.

                    who makes your new p51?

I've got a first gen 48inch wingspan hangar 9 p51 pts. noever wrecked it, but the landing gear block did come unglued. I have yet to take it apart and fix it. Its time for a new plane.

The big one appears to be really similar to the one sold my Banana Hobby, but it's slightly different.
the smaller ones are Parkzone gunfighters. They run a hair under $200 at most hobby shops. I also recently picked up a used Parkzone Corsair.

Does the new p51 you got not have a brand name or anything on it? I wonder how those retracts will stand up to landings.

well I retired the little silver mustang for a while, but pulled it back out today. Added some carbon fiber to the tail, repainted it, and added retracts. I have a higher powered motor and esc going in it aswell. Should be fun.

oh and sleeper, the big mustang seems to be a hobby king.

nitroplanes.com has awesome warbirds. I have one of the 1400mm P51's that has yet to take flight. No time to go crash the thing....full retracts and the yellow/silver version of the red/silver above.
