i don't know that there has been any official release of the numbers, but apparently some people on the net say that it ran somewhere in the low 7:30s. that's all speculation, though. i actually read that on a gm forum, fwiw.

i guess that makes sense, that gm would want to act like the gt500 doesnt' exist and compare their supercharged mustang killer to the na "boss 302"...

The Viper ACR has every production car's ass kicked. Grape needs to file protests.

I think I read somewhere that the ZL1 is somewhat heavier than the new GT500.

The Camaro ZL1 has a different motor vs the Zr1. I will still argue a solid axle car will not out handle any IRS car regardless of make.

          I still want a 2013 GT500

Yeah motortrend.. I was reading that as well..

Thought this was wierd.. maybe Im a dumbass though.. ZL1 beats boss by almost a second 0-100 but is only 3tenths faster 1/4mile and it hits 117..

Then like 2 seconds faster around the track with 140 more hp 176 more torque.... Its 400lbs heavier.. but still has a better lb/hp ratio at 7.0lbs/hp vs the boss at 8.2lbs/hp.. I just dont find that all that special...but again Im probably a dumbass

I can only imagine what the GT500 will do to it.

I agree with you.......partially. The only times i have seen an IRS outperform a properly set up solid axle is on bumpy sections of the track, on turns. Other then that, there is really no advantage.

I don't think you agree with him, at all. He's saying no solid axle car will ever outperform an IRS-equipped car.

Like i said........only on bumpy corners.......so depending on the track....only maybe 10% of the lap. So i do.....PARTIALY agree.

Lets also not forget that a solid axle won world challenge.....not an IRS.

Cool to see its being produced. I could care less if the GT500 is faster, or the Camaro is faster off the show room floor. I'm just happy there is a little horsepower war raging on. Being a chevy guy, I will say the front of the camaro is pretty ugly.

The horsepower war is good for everyone in the hobby it will just push the factories to push out some more amazing cars.

That being said, I don't care if the Camaro was 20 seconds faster around the ring and half the price of the GT500, the Camaro is still horribly ugly.

                          THIS

I've been an owner on both sides and remember feeling like a badass in my 275hp Z28.....back when that was the best a pony car got off the showroom floor. Seeing what Ford has done with the Mustang and working around it's one weakness (solid axle) and then the horsepower war we've seen over the last decade makes me happy to be a gear head.

I should have mentioned that Motor Trend did point out that they didn't have a new 650hp GT500 available at the time but that they would be testing it against the ZL1 as well.
