IIRC, he was basically told he's wasting his time and nobody would watch that shit.
I wouldn't be as interested if they were just completely stock with cages, but I'd still be way more interested in it than NASCAR.

Not circle racing but NASA has many production based classes....fun to watch but rarely a big crash. Look into it.

Showroom Stock was my favorite class to watch when they showed the SCCA runoffs on TV. Now that I think about it, the runoffs were on SPEED in full force one year and then nothing the next. Weird.

Ford intended to bring the Mustang in as the 2013 Cup car. Plan was to run it one year in Busch to work out the aerodynamics and then move it into the Cup series. Once the new Fusion model started appearing within Ford they decided it would look great in Cup trim and made the change official. Here is an example of a Busch series Mustang.

SCCA and speed TV had a major falling out. All of their club racing events and all of their pro events like world challenge are now shown on VS. network.

There really needs to be another channel called "Not NASCAR Channel". the problem is that nascar is the only series with enough money to pay for constant TV exposure.

Another series you guys might like is Australian V8 supercars, and the UTE races. All production based tubs, 650hp and some great racing action. the sounds alone are pretty orgasmic!

Starting with bodies in white would run the cost of a car to more than double what it takes now. As of now you have 5 guys labor for 2 weeks and about $2k in raw steel to build a tub.

Can't beat V8 Supercars for productionish racing. Bathurst had a pretty wickedly close finish this year, quite remarkable for such a lengthy race.

If they come to Austin like they said before everything hit the fan I will be buying tickets to that race.

They showed those races on Speed Channel years ago, and maybe they still do. They cocked that channel up with NASCAR so bad that I don't even pay attention anymore.

My favorite series from Speed was the Sprint Jet Boats.
