  • 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Fusion

NASCAR is going back to making the cars look like their production counter-parts, just as the fans have been wanting since the 80's. I can't wait to see the new Dodge Charger Sprint Cup Car.

Highly doubt that it will be an ecoboost

I guess it's been 25ish years since anything raced in a NASCAR race was actually based on an assembly line automobile. But dammit, I don't want it to "look kinda like" a production car, I want it to "be based on" a production car.

I really don't even care if it's front drive/V6. Hell, I think a whole pack of modded turbo V6 and NA V8 Fusions, Chargers, and Impalas having at it would be badass.

It's 1000x better than any NASCAR since Bill Elliot's '88 Tbird, but it's still fail.

They do? I thought they got rid of that rule several years ago when they went to the 'car of tomorrow'.

I heard Dodge was gonna run a Charger 500 @ Daytona, then my buddy seen a Torino Talladega testing, and Mercury is gonna run a Cyclone Spoiler. Pontiac is even coming back with a 2+2 w/fastback rear window. Richard Petty is gonna drive it and it's tuned by Smokey Yunick. Dual quad 421. Srsly

cup, busch and truck still use stock parts. Truck series uses a ford greenhouse which hasn't changed since end of '03, since then the trucks from the base of the windshield back, have all been the exact same components, sans rear bumper cover. call hutch pagan (factory chevy support supplier) and buy a greenhouse for a chevy truck and you will pay around $1300 for the kit. Call the other place (technosport, i believe) that handled all the ford factory support, tell them you are running a ford and they will sell you the same components for like $230.

David Frieburger from Hot Rod/Car Craft magazine actually put together a proposal to do exactly that 5-6 years ago. He tried to get the manufacturers involved, sponsors, tracks, etc. He basically wanted to make it like NASCAR is now, but stock Taruses, Impalas, etc with cages. IIRC, he was basically told he's wasting his time and nobody would watch that shit.
