No, it was pointed out that if someone has intent to harm you, we are not going to sit around with our thumbs up our ass waiting to find out.

How do you know the taser was operational?

You seriously are someone who knows nothing about what we do. TASER REQUIRES high level of maintenance on their products, which include weekly cleaning DAILY testing. Even the probe cartridges have expiration dates. The batteries (DPM) shows the power level on the LED display. 20% juice and lower it's required to be taken out of service. Taser requires quarterly reports of the maintenance records.

Aren't there statistics that prove how much accuracy degrades in a stressful situation? Seems awfully stupid for that to be your first shot when the odds are you would miss and would put yourself in further danger.
