One thing I have learned about driving up here is that even Texans/Californians find their way here.

I was living in PA last winter, I can honestly say that on snowy/slick roads, the "locals" were having a MUCH harder time than I was, and I was in a 2wd Ranger.

That hill on Orange street was just nuts in the dead of winter.

When snow falls fast like 6-12 inches in a few hours, it is almost impossible to drive on. I don't care what speed you are driving. Here in Colorado back before Christmas we had 2 snow storms back to back and the last one forced me to stay at a friends house overnight. I will take Texas ice any day.

As far as the video is concerned. Most those people were going to fast and don't know how to turn into a spin/fish tail. The ones that were going airborne into peoples yards tripped me out.

I can only assume this is in an area where it never snows? The awkward conversations that took place on that day...
Not all of that was moronic behavior. For the first few vehicles going down a hill like that where the road is complete ice it can be deceiving. Even at 5mph there's no way to slow down and speed builds. For the others who may have seen the cars all piled up they may not of had a choice. It may have been too late to try and reverse out especially if there was traffic behind them. It's almost like watching lemmings...

If you are north of the Mason Dixon, then I would agree. If you aren't then that statement is total horse shit.

If you don't have good all season tires then yes. Otherwise, as said above, your statement is horse shit. I lived in Loveland/Denver when they did not use road salt and we got around just fine.

Most people's problem is sudden change in brake/accelerator pedal pressure and/or trying to turn too quickly. Anything sudden is going to cause shit like that. It amazes me that these people just fell in line, one after the other, after seeing all the other people down there in trouble.

My 08 a4 with quattro was the only car I wrecked in the snow, ever!
When that car got squirrley, the asc or what ever, would fight you and win.
Off was great, but on it sucked. Act like a rally car driver with it on and you're screwed.

AWD doesn't make you brake any better.
