This Honda, Max, we'll call him, endured an unfortunate life of faithfully serving a college student in a brief but most likely eventful life in San Marcos, Texas. Max unconditionally loved and served his owner suffering in silence as he competed for her attention against a continuous stream of sensory distractions of text messages, an I-Pod shuffling through a range of eclectic but admittedly tasteful music, a radio and CDs when redundancy set it, canned soda, paper-wrapped fast-food, and every now and again, a cigarette.

One sad and painfully memorable evening on northbound I-35, Max met the rear end of another car in traffic. The miles-long traffic jam of thousands of other vehicle, it would seem, jumped right out in front on him, unbeknownst, by complete surprise and otherwise undetectable by even the keenest eye.

So it would be that Max would suffer the ultimate indignity of a once proud contributor to the American dream of private transportation. Max was towed. No, he wasn't towed to a repair shop where careful and loving hands could restore him to his long since forgotten former glory of that precisely lit showroom beaming idyllic imagery of driving freedom and the American Dream, so full of hope that visions of boats teaming with frustrated and huddled masses yearning to be free passing under the grandeur of our great and oft deified Statue of Liberty heading toward Ellis Island, could provide no worthy comparison.

Max would have no such justice. Instead, Max was towed to a residential driveway in Dallas where he lays in state, undisturbed, to this very day.

So close he has been to repair, yet the path to his current Hell would be paved by the unfulfilled good intentions of his owner's mother's boyfriend. Hence to some other worthy person he must be entrusted. It is time to pass the once bright torch that was Max to another for a chance at resurrected magnificence. You!!

111,150 miles. Blue cloth interior. The damage was slight, only some front end metal and plastic. Probably no frame damage at all. The photos say it all. Oh, and the transmission modulator thing, whatever that's called which is in the front, was probably damaged because Max will only drive in reverse. But we know his last journey was moving forward because Max rear-ended someone.... so that's kind of obvious.
