  • My newest project, 63 Fairlane.

First a little backstory. This car was bought brand new in 63 by an acquaintance of my family. He only drove it from his house to his pasture for five years. In 68 he sold it to my Great Grandmother. She drove it to church and to the grocery store until 1982 or 83, when it was parked. The last registration expired in 83. It sat under her carport until the mid 90's, 94 or 95 to the best of my memory, until she died. Then it sat out in a pasture until my Grandfather gave it to me in 08. He said he was giving it to me because he knew that I was the only family member that would ever do anything with it.

So I'm the 3rd owner, and it had 46k original miles on it when I got it. It had a 221 V8 with a 2 speed.

When I first got it I completely rebuilt the brakes, including a dual reservoir master cylinder swap. My Grandpa is getting kind of old so I wanted to get it going pretty soon for him so I could give him a ride in it. It was a little quicker and cheaper for me to pull out the 221/2 speed and put in a 302 h.o. from a fox body that I picked up for next to nothing along with a C4.

Here's some pics of when I picked up and shortly after.

I really got motivated when I saw how it looked with the stock Bullitts from my 04 GT.

This is my 175$ fox body 302 and the C4 I picked up for it. I used a spare RPM intake and Edelbrock 600 carb I had left over from another old project.

I did all this without permanently modifying anything on the car, because my long term plans include rebuilding the original drivetrain and everything being stock. Which means I had to make a lot of parts myself (brackets, linkages, etc).

I hooked up the battery, and after that long EVERYTHING still works! Headlights, taillights, brake lights, turn signals, horn, blower for the heater and the motor for the a/c. I can't believe rats didn't get the wiring. They were too busy with plug wires and building nests in the intake I guess.

I got tired of the gold, so I changed to this.

I took it to my family's Christmas and gave the old man a ride in it.

That's my goofy ass looking at the door latch, after his ride in it, lol!

I have a lot more pics, if anyone wants to see any more.

Next is new carpet, windlace, and it's for sure going to get Crash'd soon!!!!

I did too for a while. The more I looked at it the less I liked it though.

He loved it. I took my Dad for a ride in it a few weeks ago and he said it has been about 40 years since the last time he rode in it.

I opened the rear ash tray and showed him the balled up gum wrappers in there and he said that him and my uncle put those there about 40 years ago. That really is cool!

                          Nice,

I have a 66 Fairlane wagon chassis under my Ranchero

I like to see cars pulled from the field and put back on the road.

Very cool car, especially with the family history.
