My wife is into all that Korean pop and Chinese pop stuff. Granted, she's Chinese. They just have a different view of music over there. There is a huge generational gap when it comes to music taste. Younger asian kids listen to stuff like this:
This is a group called SuperJunior, and they, too, are Korean.
Older Asians listen to stuff like this:
And this is just the gap between my wife's generation and her parents' generation.
The fascinating things I see are that countries' borders have no effect on whether or not kids these days like the music. Chinese love popular Korean songs, Koreans love popular Chinese songs, Vietnamese love popular Japanese songs, etc. It's all interchangeable and they go to great lengths to even learn the lyrics in the other languages. Look at Jay Chou. He's an international music star/actor. If you don't know who he is, he plays Kato opposite Seth Rogen in The Green Hornet movie.
Sorry if that's info overload, I just find it really fascinating how stars like this go global despite political differences, language differences, and physical country borders.
