    1. He drives like my mother.
    2. 121 in the quarter ain't terrible.
    3. The car at the track isn't the same car, unless they turned it into a hatchback for better mph.

121 isn't bad, but with just a cam my ls was trapping almost 100 in the 1/8th with a suuuppppper loose converter

@6k for the motor + another 2-3k for headers, wiring, alternator, etc. + fab work, it definitely makes junk yard ls motors look like a steal, especially since they seem to go faster w/just a cam

Of course there's cheaper ways to go fast. Hell he could have got a 454 out of an old GMC motorhome, used shitty heads/cam/headers and a 200hp NOS plate kit and run circles around your car for even less money than an lsx. BUT, who gives a shit? There's always going to be someone that goes faster for cheaper, and that's not even the point with this car from what I can gather.

Dollar for dollar, I guess the LS1 is still ahead, but I love the thought of a coyote in my sn95. I'd like to see a "real-world" cost for this swap.

Well my thoughts about the whole quad cam thing is.....why?

The LS motors run just as well, are cheaper to mod and more compact so why? Ill just never understand the reasoning for it.

All that being said, I am a LS homer but only because its a cheap source for alot of power. I looked into doing a coyote fox swap when ford released the crate motors but its just too much $$ still. The crate motors are priced right though but untill you can find them in wrecking yards then its just too rich for my blood.

                          Agreed with Roy.

And it's hilarious that the chevy homers still can't give it props.

Well there are a lot of reasons for it beyond "modability" and "compactness."

Emissions and fuel economy are much higher priorities for OEMs than outright power. The LSx engines are great, sure, but at some point you have to realize they are the end of the line as far as pushrod technology is ever likely to go.

GM has a good strategy, as the LSx engines are cheap to build, reliable, scalable, and work in nearly every platform they make. But the new 4-cam Fords are pretty badass in their own right. In the third year of release, they already have a 650hp version and none that make less than 420. Drink the Kool Aid!

OK but as far as you and I are concerned, what does the coyote engine do better than a LS? Pushrods were supposedly at the end of the road years ago then GM came out with the LS platform. I dont know squat about emmisions but what is the real world MPG of a coyote 5.0 stang? Unless they are getting 25-30mpg then that point is moot.

Multi-cam engines have always existed because they were supposedly more efficient and it seems Ford drank that kool aid. The coyote engines are Ford first decent N/A mod motors and Im sure they will only get better but there are still better options out there IMO.
