the aerodynamics of a rider and bike are really atrocious. One of the main reasons a car is faster than a bike on a road course is the aero grip a car body can provide.

I have seen some really cool videos of showing the low and high pressure zones of a bike and rider in a wind tunnel and its not so good for bikes.

Check out this video - not necessarily true that a car is faster than a bike on a roadcourse. I remember years ago they put an R1 against a Viper and the bike got beat on a tight roadcourse. Today the 1198S beats the 458 Italia. If you're talking about an F1 car vs a Moto GP bike then the car probably is faster.

I was assuming the smaller surface area would "pierce" the air better, but I guessed wrong.

That's damn quick on a bike or in a car.

Actually a 996 Cup Car would do it to take on a Moto GP bike. Bikes dont even come cloooose to the top times on open wheel cars at famous tracks like Laguna Seca and VIR.

The $$$/ET ratio on a bike is pretty outstanding, however!

it does have a small surface area, but there is no clean way the air flows around the bike and rider to recombine behind it. A car has a fluid shape to bring the air back together behind it with a lot more shape to worth with

If only I could afford one so I could find out! I like cars and bikes both though.

Yikes, I did some searching and it looks like they have done 1:05 laptimes at Laguna Seca in a Champ car and MotoGP is more like 1:20. LeMans cars are a couple seconds ahead of the bikes too.

300 mph is easily possible. You gotta realize no one has tried this, that bike has like 6 passes on it. They need a better shut down for 300 mph. He was hopping and skidding to slow down and still went into the gravel....

btw, gearing on that bike was 19-39 if Im not mistaken. 18-42 goes 200 mph in 5th.

Either way you look at it, that gave me wood!!!!
I didn't go back and rewatch the video, but I can assure you he's WAY up in the MPH before it sees full boost. It's not uncommon for a bike to have gear sective boost control - I mean, shit, they claim 650HP and on a bike that's 700# or less... well, you get the picture.

Fuck, 650HP is a lot for a CAR. (Now, granted, the torque isn't there on a bike - but you get the picture)

They are probably only using 480-500rwhp if that, and only in 6th gear, if they can. Those bikes still wheelie and spin the tire at 250mph....when going that fast you get lift causing tire spin as well. If you notice, he was barely ever 100 percent throttle. The texas mile is no prepped drag strip....

and that bike weighs in at around 500 lbs. Prob 650 with bike and rider.

yeah, I figured it was something like that. I've seen that one at the track quite a few times and you can tell it's applying power VERY slowly.

                              FUCK all of that shit!

You should ride my turbo bike, its actually not as scary as you would think. They go so fast that when they do spin, it just goes straight.

Brooks u wanna come wire up my accel dfi and msd mc4, or know someone badass at wiring i'll bring the beast back out. I dont have the cheddar right now to pay to have it rewired for the front rack. And I sure as shit dont have the patience to wire it again myself. Its mapped and ready to go, just needs to be wired and dyno'd.
