It's worth it, if only for the flashback. Jimmy Stuart on Johnny Carson.

Here's my little buddy when we first adopted him from the rescue facility. He comes to work with me every day. Hell, he goes just about everywhere with me. He especially loves to work on stuff with me. He'll even lay on my chest when I'm on a creeper.

Here he is with our rescued chihuahua.

        Here's our rescued English Bulldog.

My next dog will be a bulldog. Our shelter never has them... which is good for me, the wife would kill me if I brought home another pup.

Be prepared to continually drop money on it. We got ours from a breeder. Sassy had 2 litters under her belt, but she got terribly depressed when the pups were gone. She would chew on her feet due to the lack of interaction.

I call her rescued due to the lifestyle that she lived at that breeders location. The facility is probably one of the best that I have ever seen, but breeders don't have the same outlook for dogs that we have. Sassy was filthy, her eyelids never got the surgery that is nearly 100% required for bulldogs, so she lost sight in one eye and has very poor eyesight in the other. He tail is ingrown which requires regular cleaning by me (at least twice a week), but had never been done.

When we took her to our vet to get her all checked out and shots caught up our vet told us that English Bulldogs were bred to put vet's children through college. LOL!!! Lucky for us, our vet is an extremely good one, has a top notch facility, and charges considerably less than the others in our area.

Sassy is a lot of fun, though. She loves to play with me and the kiddos and it's cute as hell to see her lay on one of the kids and keep them pinned while she sniffs and licks their ears like she's doing to me in that pic. It tickles like crazy!!

Putting an animal down sucks. I have lost many an animal over the years, but they always just died on their own, but when my cat got cancer in his mouth, I had to put him down. I never once shed a tear over my last animals, but when I took him in, had him still purring while they shaved the injection site and have hm look into my eyes just before his went out, I cracked. Hardest thing that I ever had to do.
