I met the owner of that helo. Very cool guy.

I took a couple of vids just before I was supposed to go up for a flight in it but they had an "issue" and canceled out.

This is the only vid I could find. Had another of it starting up but can't find it at this moment.

In Soviet Russia, complex looks incredible!

Complex doesn't even begin to describe it.
It looks to be similar to the H-3 Sea King, and speaking from experience, that one is a ginormous pain in the ass. And to think, those were designed by guys using slide-rules.

I think the guys in the video were amateurs.

I think they were volunteers. I was a helicopter crew chief in the USAF, and we did that on H-3s and H-53s quite a bit. Those guys took what looked like 3 days or more to do what took us just a few hours to do. By the way, the main gear box is easy to install, it's the main rotor servos, swashplates, and rotor head that are the hardest parts.

For comparison, max gross weight of an H-3 and Mi-24 are within 500 pounds of each other (26,000-26,500 pounds), and an H-53's max gross is 46,000 pounds (the 3-engine "E" model has a max gross weight of 73,500).

There was a bit of sarcasm lost in the delivery of that message.
