Just driving the coupe to the shop today almost caused a few accidents. Errbody lookin'! I don't like people staring at me so I'll just start picking my nose.
The guys at tripple A asked if Grubbs Motorsports did the work. I said "nope, I built it in my garage". I guess I should be flattered but I'm not familiar with their work.
Inspection time, hope she passes!

It passed and I really drove it for the first time today.
WOW. I never knew what I was missing. I've never owned a classic but now it's time to change that. You guys know where it's at!
It was so cool just rollin in that old car that was a shell a few months ago. The seating, the ride, the sound. I'm hooked. Just the feel of everything, the steering wheel, the raw feel, and just having your arm on the door. Beautiful, and the attention is crazy.
Pics are coming tomorrow after a wash.

Wiped it off, got the tips on it, and ran a whole tank of gas through it today, turning heads everywhere. What a car. Lots of minor issues like the gas coming out of the filler cap when you romp on it (LOL wtf?), and the right rear tire hitting the quarter over bumps (DAMMIT, why only one side???) but these are minor. It's almost completely done. I still need to get the dash pad colored correctly and installed, as well as the rocker strips, but it's alive and kicking.

Thanks All.
It's nice to see people admire all your passionate work. I've almost forgotten how hard it was to get to this point, and even discount my own success. All it takes is a slow drive through a busy parking lot to realize the real payoff.
I even had my two nephews (11,13) help out on the car and while they were riding with me yesterday, they pointed out that all the people were starring at something that they helped create, starring at their hard work. I finally acknowledged that it's ok to enjoy it, it was earned.
Hey BLAKE, what are the pinch welds? Bottom of the body panels?
The rocker strips were optional, and I think he likes them. As for the bumper guards, we were unaware that the GT rear valance negates the back ones, and thought the front should match. We have a brand new set that will now collect dust on a shelf because it looks good as is.
Yes I am hooked. I'm more of a fastback guy, so the search will begin next year. I think I already have my next project lined up and this one will be the very same Chevy that I rode in my whole childhood. It's been waiting for a reunion ever since.Last edited by Baba Ganoush; 12-18-2011, 10:56 PM.
