Hot damn, you're doing it right, sir.

Love the colors, love the updated parts, just a great story.

The one single itty bitty bit of criticism: interior 1/4 trim around the back seat and windlace needs to be emberglow. That 2-tone pony is just so sexy, and it really only works if the seat inserts, door panels, dash and top half of the kick panels are the only white parts. Headliner too, I guess.

Oh yeah, and don't forget to paint the pinch welds black. ;-)

Not concerned at all about concorus details, but I did wonder about that.

Yea we were wondering what was up with the quarter skins being parchment. We bought a kit for the whole interior from Texas Mustang, and that is what they put in there. We also saw a fastback at the Nationals in mesquite that had parchment on the quarters as well, so we weren't sure which was correct. I've seen this interior with different color combos on different items, so we didn't really know what to do. We figured what the hell and went with it. We aren't tinting the windows, so maybe the parchment will take the sun better and wont fade as easily. Eh, I have a slight issue with it clashing with the door, but it's not too bad. We still need to get the package tray wrapped and we're still not sure on that color either. We figured parchment, it would be harder for it to fade. It wouldn't be hard to re-wrap those quarters at all, we'll see.

Kick panels are parchment, as well as all the windlace. We saw this on examples as well.
I also need to get the dash pad dyed. The maroon correct dash pad is hella ugly, darker than any of the red, and just looks terrible.

Oh details, details! That will drive you crazy!!!

Yeah, I didn't figure you were sweating concourse stuff, I was only bringing up the stiff that I thought affected the overall aesthetics. I believe the emberglow is correct for that part, and for the package tray, though regardless of what's correct, I think the emberglow looks better on those parts. I just like how special and intentional the instances of parchment are on the two-tone interior.

The kick panels should be parchment with emberglow carpet on the lower half. I believe you are right about the parchment windlace. Attaching another pic here, and though it is a vert, it references some of the stuff we're talking about...

For that dash pad, I would buy some emberglow interior vinyl dye that comes in a spray can and paint the pad to match the rest of the interior. I agree that the dark stock color doesn't jive with the rest.

          Thanks for the compliments.

Well when I wrap the package tray the quarters have to come out so I might re-wrap them, its something to think about. Thank you for being the first to notice lol! I think i was waiting for someone to say something before I considered re-wrapping them.

Also, I don't know if you noticed but when I painted the dash I was wondering about the A-pillar color. I went ahead and shot them since they were primered, and later I researched it, and it looks like they should be emberglow.

Oh well, they look alright. Man, the details can get outta hand. I figure if we like the way it looks, that's all that matters. Either way, it's a damn-sight better than it was.:wink1:

I've seen both parchment and emberglow A-pillars, and I think with parchment windlace and headliner, parchment looks better. Factory-correct be damned. I've always felt that if there was something different that I liked better, I'm changing it. For example, 5 gears is way more fun than 3.

Yeah that a good line of thought, and it was our moto on this build as far as we took it. All it needs now that we haven't even planned for would be a functioning volt meter and a tachometer. I guess those are good excuses for a rally pack.

It's insured as of today and will be legal by the weekend. Time to drive it, FINALLY!!!

I'll get some good pictures up eventually, and we'll have to make a few meets. I hope to see yours and anyone else's classic.

As soon as the weather clears, I'll be mostly cruising around Sachse. If I plan to go anywhere specific and post up, I'll send you a pm.

Scarebird. You buy the caliper brackets from them, and the rest of the parts comes from NAPA. I installed the kit that works with Ranger rotors and S-10 calipers. Works good so far, but I haven't got them working perfectly yet.

Scarebird Classic Brakes LLC offers quality conversion brackets that require no spindle modifications, and use quality, inexpensive off-the-shelf parts available from your local NAPA or Autozone - and through discount internet suppliers such as RockAuto.com.

Nice. My first car was a '72 Olds Cutlass 442. I'd love to find one and restore it. It would bring back a ton of memories for me and about 100 other people since it was in my family for 27 years. I'd love to find my exact car but it's probably long gone by now. I sold it in '99, right before the big muscle car boom.

Really. We were a member of the Olds club forever. Used to go to the Mini nationals in Waco every year. Dad's '72 and Mom's '70 W30. I got the '72 when I turned 16. Damn I wish we still had those.....
