The guy in the OP's video is ignorant and deserved the ass whooping. I get why the owner(s) did what was done.

I wonder if the comments for that video have a point? In that using that video he may negate any real recourse against the guy.

Criminal Mischief charges on the Vet, Assault charges on the owner. Catching someone doing something illegal does not give someone free reign to beat their ass. Especially with the comments made on tape.

What he said I understand due to adrenaline flowing and all that. However, I think he may learn a valuable lesson that you as a cop probably know well....self control.

There are circumstances that will allow the use of force against another, but in this case, I don't think that kid has thought it through.

I read some of the thread on the EVO board... he hit him only a couple times, Old Navy Guy tried to get away and the kid kicked the door on his leg and broke it. Old Navy Guy is already booked for painting on that EVO and 5 other cars...

Yep, the car owner gets the worse charge. And he recorded himself.

We had a guy call in about a young fella stealing his car a few years back. The dispatcher heard the guy in the back ground tell the owner FU when he said to get out of his car. Then she heard "hang on a second" and a good solid three thumps. We get there and the perp is knocked out on the ground. After the guy came too and was cleared by the paramedics we hauled his ass to jail for trying to steal the car and the owner went to work. I say if this guy caught him in the act of spray painting the car then oh well. I bet that guy thinks twice about spray painting a car in the future.

I'm not defending what the Vet did, but breaking a leg is Serious Bodily Injury - a felony in Texas.
