  • Here are the corrected pics of my home made speaker stands...

I sucked at photobucket on the last go around... anyway....

When I originally installed all my home theater stuff, my surround speakeres were up on the walls behind the sofa on either side of me, about 11 feet high. They are dipoles, so I figured I would get decent results from a range of placements.... but I found out while standing on a ladder to clean my ceiling fan blades that there was A LOT of sound I was missing out on.

Since I am poor right now I figured I would get some wood and paint and make some simple stands. You can see that they're basically a couple of 1' x 1' pieces attached to a piece of 4" x 4" - painted with a black basecoat and finished up with a couple coats of black metal flake.

They turned out pretty decent and go pretty good with the color of the rest of my gear.. I was happy with them.

No wife..... that's how I was able to afford all the junk, lol. It's kinda cluttered right now but I am rearranging a few things.... maybe even laying out the living room different.

The new location of the speakers, along with taking the cover off and discoving a volume knob and a dipole / bipole switch, have made a huge difference. Now I have to go rewatch all my favorite movies again, haha.

Take the flowers off that speaker. It just makes you seem.... unmanly now.

Do you have a TV behind your couch?

Hold'em up! I did NOT put those flowers there, LOL! My girlfriend did. There WAS a candle there with the wax sitting directly on the wood and I almost blew a gasket over it... and I completely forgot about her putting the flowers there the other day.

A hippie friend of mine did the painting along with a few others.... he died a few years back and I kinda have that there to remember him by...

I do like colors though, and I agonized over how to fix the place up and make it look cool, or at least cool to ME, lol. And when people come over, one thing they do say is the place is very warm and inviting, and that's the way I wanted it, rather than overdone in masculine tones - that's what my office in the back is for.

That TV behind the couch is in the process of relocation.

I did at least turn the pumpkin around so you can't see the holes I've fucked into it.

They wouldn't stay on top of my speaker very long. The vibration from the music would fix it.
