  • New Turbo kit I'm building

Todays progress. Finised up the cold side and put everything on to see how it is all going to fit. I put a larger pipe going from the turbo to the intercooler. It was a 2.5" and is now 3" and also went from a 3" pipe from the MAF to TB to a 3.5" pipe. Now I just need to get a few pipes power coated and finish a couple of other little things.

No joke. That thing looks like 10 pounds of shit in a 5 pound bucket.

What turbo is that? Tv series? Any plans for a bigger down pipe? You gonna run a bird and small child screen on the front of that compessor inlet?

            Looks like fun!

Yeah I'm going to put a screen in front of the inlet. It is a Garrett GT4276. I can't really fit a larger DP where I have this one going thru the K-member right now. It is a 3.5" DP...

If it fits on a regular oven, you want to DIY and you do not mind driving a bit, buy the color/s and I'll teach you how to PC it.

Do you have any plans on pressure checking those cold side pipes? leaks can/will cause you to chase your tail for a long time, it's time well spent to pressure check.

That downpipe will cause a signifigant loss in power, especially at higher boost levels. Not to mention can affect spooling..

                    just some food for thought.

Props for getting in there and getting it done!

how do you pressure test it?

there's any number of a million ways to do it.

Go to lowes or HD and get some rubber caps that fit the ends. hose clamp them in place and in the center of one of them put a schrader valve, fill it up with a airchuck and spray with soapy water.

or, use a silicone coupler and a capped piece of tubing with the same scrhader valve..

or cap the ends and put a plug on the BOV side and schrader there..

Thanks man I'll figure something out. I still need that small piece of 1 7/8 pipe if you have any scrap laying around. I'll see how the 3.5" DP works for now and if it seems to be a big issue I'll put a 4" in some how.
