This is my 1st year ever to hunt stand and feeder. I have always done my homework and scouted the land before my hunts. And I might add, I've loved every minute of it. Having said this, I have found that there is a lot to this stand and feeder hunting. A lot of work (and money I might add) goes into getting everything sat up, after picking the "perfect" spot. Then there is NO guarantee that the deer will eat corn. It all depends on what else is out there to eat ie; acorns, mesquite beans, etc. Its my understanding that those with feeders last year did poorly because of the amount of acorns on the ground.

    Is it easier...yeah.
    Is it more comfortable...yeah.

I have hunted all my life leaned up against fences and trees stumps in the freezing cold and rain. I wouldn't change my past experiences for the world, but I sure like the ideal of sitting in a heated blind, away from the elements, sipping coffee and eating biscuits.

I have never been pheasant hunting... my dad used to go to KS every year to hunt them but hasn't been in a long time. I have only seen one in my life and that it when it tried to commit suicide but running out in front of our truck while we were going down a back road in KS.

Pavlov wrote on the successes of conditioned reflex. Deer hear the feeder and cautiously investigate, find a treat and continue to show up. As the sound emits (I've never heard a silent feeder), the deer come running. I don't hunt this way, did it a few times and it hit me like luring fish into a cage, shutting the door and dropping a hook into the cage only to jump up and down about the monster you just caught. Or for the non sportsman, it'd be like having a club where all drinks were spiked with ruffies and then bragging to your buddies that you banged a hot chick - even though she lay unsuspecting and unaware of your presence.

Here in PA there's a ton of pheasant farms. My brother in law bought a bunch and we went on their land. You hide them in the woods/tall grass spread out, then go back with the dog and flush them out. They will go hide or stay where you put them. Either way the dog causes them to fly up. It was a lot of fun.

I hunt for food not sport so I will take any advantage I can get. A good size deer(150 lbs)can last me a while

Not everyone hunts for the sport of it.

I know, I hunt for meat but prefer to have a challenge.

I have in the past. Need to get another bow. I'm thinking about sitting in a tree and as a deer walks below I'll jump on that bitch, armbar him, and then enjoy the feast. Steve'ing a deer could go viral.

Gotta cover yourself in mud first so they can't see you with their infrared eyesight.
