          been thinking about selling my 98 t/a to get something else, and those are on my radar. i know the 4.8 is pretty gutless in tahoes and shit, but how do those scsb do with them?

            ^still gutless, but the 5.3 seems to do pretty well

                      Not if you plan on doing a motor swap, if you don't plan on it, then yes. The smaller 4.8/5.3 motors are just in the edge of being under powered. If you tune them, they are good. If you've ever had the 6.2, you'd wonder why they even produced them. The later model Ly6's work great for the money, nice heads, low compression and pretty easy to come by.

                        yea i havent even managed to put a converter in my t/a in the 3 yrs ive owned it, i dont think id do a motor swap LMAO. realistically whats the power difference in the real world between the 4.8 and 5.3?

                          Honestly from a roll, you can't tell. From a dig, night and day. They are both rated in the new trucks over 300 hp. The early model trucks just under and over 300.
