Yeah, my dad is a touch rusty and he isn't even close to finished.

My dad assures me that it will be fine when he is done.

Going to have to sand some thanks to paint collecting in the body channel and running. No way am I sanding it back down all the way and restarting. I was never looking for a show car, just something nicer than what I started with.

you don't have to sand it all down, just scuff up what you've sprayed and put it down more evenly. those zebra stripes are only going to look worse once they are cleared in. i'd lay 2 more medium to heavy coats (try to overlap evenly) then maybe come in and dust the panel. you will not be happy with the final result if you leave it like it is even if you are not going for "show car" quality. just my 2 cents.

God no, the zebra stripes are coming off. It was too cold to lay a thick coat yesterday, more paint is going on.

just fyi, i'm not just talking out of my rear either. i've done multiple "garage" paint jobs, if you can see it in the base you'll see it 10x worse under the clear. here are a couple of the garage jobs i did on my t/a when i had the time to play with paint.

this is a corvette pace car theme i did:

this was a dark silver with black flames:

this is a candy blue over silver (can't find any full car pictures):

You do nice work. I need to try and upload some pics of what my dad has done. He brought home a 57 Chevrolet convertible in boxes, put it back together looking like brand new. Problem is that it's been over 20 years since his last shoot, so I understand his rust.

Devilbiss Finishline and I can't remember the brand of paint off the top of my head, gotta go check. The type of paint is a urethane base coat/clear coat.

DAMN DUDE!!! you do some nice paint work! I recently completed my first garage paint job and I have a whole new appreciation for the effort it takes for results like that. Very nice!

OP, I love the blue, and the most recent pics look better. You should take over for your old man and let him supervise lol! That is the perfect car to practice on. It is an art, no doubt.

Oh I am PISSED OFF. Words can't describe how pissed off I am. Started laying down the clear today. Mixed it up to the manufacturers specs. It laid down like curdled yogurt, it's a fucking nightmare. Went inside to do some quick research on the brand, come to find out that you are supposed to use reducer with it. Started using reducer and low and behold, a nice clear coat. Got a few pics, they suck since my sister snaked the good camera out from under me today. So, note to self, spray a small TEST AREA next time and don't trust the manufacturer. Think Nick can buff it out?
