The way it is described is like an echo. I get the whole slinky explanation but the tennis part is a bad example in my opinion.

I don't play tennis but have hit a tennis ball on a court a few times and I have never hit the ball watched it travel, watched it travel over the net and then say, "oh shit, I just felt the vibration". From what I remember I feel it when I hit it.
